COVID-19 Coronavirus: Service Update

Delivering key work in the Medicines Supply Chain, HGL services continue to operate as normal, subject to guidance:

Regarding COVID-19, Honeyman Group Limited (HGL) has been monitoring this situation for a considerable period and adjusted operating practices accordingly in line with business continuity plans.

In short, rest assured, HGL is open for business as usual.

HGL head office is located in a very rural part of North East England. At this stage, in our local area, the risk remains extremely low with the number of confirmed cases far below the national average.

In this unprecedented time, the requirement for products, particularly provided by our clients in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector is as important as ever. HGL will continue to support clients in achieving business deliverables. As we are all delivering key work in the Medicines Supply Chain, HGL services continue to operate as normal. HGL has implemented a myriad of business continuity procedures to enable us to maintain our service and best protect the welfare of our staff.

This is a general message to clients across all HGL business divisions:

Clients of Honeyman Laboratories

HGL Laboratories, our division carrying out contract analytical services, continues to operate as normal. All staff not directly involved in the testing process have been issued with the appropriate infrastructure to work from home. Visitor access to our facilities is highly restricted and subject to risk assessment however will be rejected in most cases at this time. Additional workspace has been provisioned for staff to provide a greater distance between individuals working areas. HGL has already recruited extra skilled resource to provide cover in the event of increased staff illness and self-isolations. Given the nature of our business, we already operate a highly clean environment where all staff are trained on cross-contamination. Additional hand sanitizer stations have been added around the facility and all staff are sanitizing their hands at each time of passing. The laboratory currently holds an increased stock of items to allow us to maintain our routine and already scheduled works.

All incoming deliveries are subject to increased procedures. All drivers will be required to sanitize hands before placing goods into our quarantine area. There will be no interaction with HGL staff.

During this incident, clients may struggle to rely on third-party courier companies to provide time critical transport. You may wish to use the HGL courier service, providing a door to door service operated by our own staff. To cater for increased demand for this service, additional drivers and vehicles have been deployed. Our drivers have been allocated individual vehicles along with PPE including sanitizing gels and wipes. Our driver collection procedure has been reviewed and updated to best protect all parties during this outbreak. HGL courier service is the best way to transport samples between your site and our laboratory quickly and safely. Please contact us if you wish to avail of this service.

Clients of Honeyman Water

HGL Water, our division manufacturing and servicing purified water, pure steam and autoclave systems, continues to operate as normal. All manufacturing engineers are based at our main manufacturing site in Shildon, UK. Service engineers are now based from home in isolation from each other. All scheduled jobs on client sites are still running as planned. If your site requires any risk assessment or additional information regarding upcoming work, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Our 24/7 emergency engineering response line is still in operation. To report a fault or to speak to an engineer out of hours, please call your local HGL number (UK 01833 690101, Ireland 01 556 3488) selecting option 2, then option 2. The system will forward your call to the on-call engineer. If the on-call engineer is unavailable, you will be required to leave a voicemail and the system will automatically start to contact other engineers until your request has been acknowledged.

Clients of Honeyman Validation

HGL Validation, our division carrying out sterile process support and environment mapping, continues to operate as normal. All validation engineers are now based from home in isolation from each other. All scheduled jobs on client sites are still running as planned. If your site requires any risk assessment or additional information regarding upcoming work, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Clients of Honeyman Training

HGL Training: public and onsite training. Our public training courses scheduled to run prior to June 2020 have been postponed until later in the year. Public training courses are due to recommence in June 2020. On-site training is still available however we understand that some clients have requested to delay this. We are currently looking to accommodate those requests. All those effected by this should have already been contacted by HGL. If you have any questions regarding this, please do let us know.
